Special Considerations

• A waveform channel is always assigned to a display window (as indicated by the X=Y annotation in the left/right annotation margin. X designates the display window and Y designates the waveform channel). However using the Variable Waveforms Assignment function, you can assign any waveform to any given window. What’s more, you can display any block of consecutive display windows on your monitor with Assign Range. Keep in mind that nothing about the display format is fixed. The default is channel 0 assigned to window 1, channel 1 assigned to window 2, etc.

• The particular display format enabled at any given moment simply affects the way you view the waveforms being acquired. It in no way affects information being stored to disk during data acquisition.

• Each display format may be selected “on-the-fly” through simple keystrokes.

• Any data acquisition channel number may be assigned to any waveform window, as an overlapping or non-overlapping display, and as a function of the enabled display format. This waveform window/waveform channel assignment capability is available during the data acquisition process using simple keystrokes.

• The number of channels you will see displayed on your screen is a function of monitor resolution. A 640 x 480 display may not be able to display all 32 channels (if selected), however a 1024 x 768 display will show all 32 channels when enabled. The following describes each display format in terms of its window design, maximum number of displayed channels, and enabling keystrokes.
