Importing Data In Real Time From Your Data Acquisition Device requires you to enter a Starting Cell and the Number of Rows to Fill. There are four possible modes of data import available in WinDaq/XL: Standard (default), Looping, High Speed, and Single Step. You may only import data in a single mode.
Standard is the WinDaq/XL default mode.
When the Standard checkbox is selected, WinDaq/XL will record data for each channel beginning at the user defined “Starting Cell”, and ending once it has reached the user defined “Rows to Fill.”
Place a checkmark in the Looping option if you would like the data to be recorded into the Excel chart using a continuous loop.
When the looping option is checked, WinDaq/XL will record data for each channel beginning at the user defined “Starting Cell.” When the data has reached the user defined “Rows to Fill,” WinDaq/XL will loop back to the starting cell and continue to import data overwriting the previously recorded data.
Place a checkmark in the High Speed checkbox to import data at high speeds.
In Standard or Looping modes, WinDaq/XL is not able to import data at very high speeds. The High Speed mode will fill the data into a buffer and then fill data into the spreadsheet once the buffer is full. The buffer will fill up according to the user defined “Rows to Fill.” The rate it will import at is dependent on the speed of the computer.
Tip: Use the status button on the toolbar to figure out when you began recording.
Triggering, and Time Stamp are not available when using High Speed mode.
Place a checkmark in the Single Step checkbox to import a single row of data.
When checked, the Start Import button is replaced by the Single Step button and a Stop button.
Click on the Single Step button to import a new row of data. This is useful for users who want to manually select a row of data (such as when a buzzer goes off). Click on the Stop button to exit Single Step mode.
Triggering is not available in Single Step mode. Tip: You can capture a single row of data after a predefined trigger if you enable triggered data and set the "Rows to Fill" to 1.
Time Stamp
Place a checkmark in theTime Stamp checkbox to place a time stamp at each imported data point.
This adds another column to your spreadsheet with the title "Time Stamp" and reports the time the data point is ported to Excel. The time stamp is based on your PC time ( not real-time accuracy of WinDaq) and is reported in format yyyy/dd/mm h:mm:ss AM/PM. Use theFormat button to customize the format of the time stamp.
Time Stamp is not available when using High Speed mode.
The Starting Cell box lets you choose which Excel chart cell you want the waveform data to begin to fill. The input needs to be entered as a letter (A-M) followed by a number (1-100). The maximum column is the letter M, and the maximum row is 100.
The Rows to Fill box lets you choose the total number of rows that you want data to fill.
Save Settings
If you would like to save these settings for the next time you use WinDaq/XL, put a checkmark in the Save Settings checkbox.
To set Trigger Conditions see Trigger Options.
