Description

DI-188 USB Data Acquisition starter kit with downloadable WinDaq software. Featuring four differential analog input channels, 12-bit measurement resolution and a fixed ±10V full scale measurement range. Sample rates as slow as 0.1 Hz and as fast as 8 kHz (with a single channel enabled) are supported. No programming needed when using WinDaq software!

Suitable for preamplified analog voltage measurements, the DI-188 (with included WinDaq software) allows for real time data acquisition, playback, and analysis, with performance equal to or better than comparable products in the same price category. Built on an Arduino® compatible module, the DI-188 begins a new chapter, with a fully open source firmware and protocol allowing for easy expansion. DI-188 is by far the most Arduino® community friendly, value-oriented starter kit ever.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I save data in Microsoft Excel format?
Data can be streamed to Microsoft Excel using WinDaq/XL. Data can also be exported to Excel after acquisition using WinDaq Waveform Browser. See How to Import Recorded Data to Excel.

Can I program it under Matlab?
See our Matlab example on github.

Can I record 4-20mA sensor signals and if so, how do I do that?
4-20-mA process current signals can be measured with the DI-188. See How to make 4-20mA current Loop Measurements for more information.

Does the device have internal memory (i.e. can I record in stand-alone mode)?
The DI-188 stores acquired data to a connected PC using either WinDaq Acquisition software or by writing your own program. The device does not have hardware to store data to internal memory or removable memory. The nearest device that can is the DI-2108.

Can I connect and measure data from a single-ended sensor?
Yes. Single-ended sensors can be connected and measured. The best practice is to connect the ground wire to the negative input of the channel.

Can I measure Thermocouple temperatures?
Thermcouple temperature measurements would not be accurate at all using the DI-188 and should not be attempted. Thermocouple measurements are in the 50mV to 100mV range. With a 12-bit ADC converter and a full scale range of ±10V makes the DI-188 very ineffective. Thermocouple measurements are also non-linear and require special programming to provide accurate readings.

Is software included with the device?
WinDaq Data Acquisition and Playback Software is included free.

Where do I download the software?
Download software at https://www.dataq.com/support/downloads/DATAQ-Software-Suite-Web-Setup.exe.

Can I get the DI-188 calibrated?
Calibration service is not offered for the DI-188. If you wish to calibrate it yourself, please use this calibration utility. Consider the DI-2108 if NIST traceability is required.

Can I program this device?
Built on an Arduino® compatible module with rich resource from Arduino® community, the Open Source firmware of the DI-188 allows users to expand its functionality. View our GitHub page for example programs.

Is my sensor compatible with this device?
Maybe. Sensors with an output within the range of ±10 Volts can be used with the DI-188. See how fine a measurement you can make with your sensor using the ADC Resolution Calculator. If you have any questions about compatibility just send your sensor information to our sales team at sales@dataq.com.
